As a primary health care provider, a physiotherapist will assess, diagnose, and treat your injury through a combination of methods that may include: manual therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, dry needling, soft tissue techniques (including cupping, IASTM), exercise prescription and modalities such as ultrasound, laser, shockwave, electrotherapy and heat. Our treatment programs and approaches are based on the most up to date scientific evidence available. The goal of physiotherapy is to return you to your optimal function and strength while educating you about your injury.

Meet Jonah!

Jonah has been helping his hometown of Sudbury move and feel better since moving back to Northern Ontario in 2020. If pain or an injury are keeping you from doing something you love, Jonah is excited to help you conquer it and get your life back on track!

Professionally, Jonah focuses on helping his patients move and feel better using targeted exercises, hands on therapy, as well as dry needling. Jonah’s method centers around finding the root cause of the problem, identifying what factors led to it, and making a strategy to ensure it doesn’t come back again.

Since becoming a Physio, Jonah has completed further studies involving the use of needling techniques and acupuncture, manual therapy including spinal manipulation, concussion rehabilitation, as well as golf specific training through the Titleist Performance Institute aimed at golfers.

When he’s not in the clinic, you can find Jonah out on the trails with his wife, or spending time with his young daughter and dogs. Jonah enjoys weightlifting, running, golfing, hiking, and doing pretty much anything outdoors with his friends and family.

Meet Tara, a newly graduated Physiotherapy resident with a Master’s in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa. She is excited to help people move better and feel their best! During her studies, Tara gained hands-on experience in clinics and rehab centers, where she learned the ropes of patient care.

Tara is particularly passionate about working with kids and loves creating personalized treatment plans that empower her patients on their journey to recovery. She believes in making therapy engaging and supportive, so her patients feel motivated and involved every step of the way. Eager to enhance her skills, she plans to further her education in pediatrics and manual therapy. Tara is proud to offer her services in both English and French, making her care accessible to a broader community.

When she’s not in the clinic, Tara can be found coaching gymnastics as well as exploring the great outdoors. She is thrilled to start her career and make a positive impact in her community, one patient at a time!

Alec St. Pierre graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 2013. He was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Graduating Student Award in Kinesiology and the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Undergraduate Student Award. He continued his post-secondary education completing his Masters of Science in Physiotherapy in 2015 from McMaster University. During his Masters degree, Alec worked on a group thesis project updating a Cochrane review on the topic of patient education for neck pain. After graduating, he continued to volunteer for an additional year with the risk of bias Cochrane Review Group.

Alec spent his first year working as a physiotherapist in Meaford, Ontario. There he was able to co-preceptor a McMaster University physiotherapy student, learning valuable teaching skills. He also started taking post-graduation courses, including AA1: Fundamental of Anatomical Acupuncture. Alec then moved to Vancouver BC where he took on the role of the Lead Physiotherapist at Karp Rehabilitation. In this role, Alec was able to develop strong marketing, team management and communication skills. As well, he continued to develop as a physiotherapist taking multiple courses on IMS, persistent pain, therapeutic exercise and manual therapy. In Vancouver, Alec also worked with Burnaby Winter Club Hockey Academy and UBCOB Ravens Rugby Club as a physiotherapist doing sideline coverage for games and practices.

Alec has been accepted into the Sport Physiotherapy Canada Credential Program, having his First Responder Qualification through the Canadian Red Cross. He has completed over 300 sport coverage hours as a physiotherapist.

Alec moved to Sudbury in September 2021 and started working at Summit Physiotherapy where he regularly works with Laurentian University students, including varsity athletes and student trainers. He has voluntarily attended Laurentian University sporting events to act as a mentor for the student trainers, and resource for the athletes. He has also hosted a webinar for CROSH, and is working with amateur sports throughout Sudbury including The Baseball Academy, Walden Cross Country Ski Club, Idylwylde Golf and Curling clubs, and Timberwolf Golf Course.

Languages: Alec is fluent in English. He has intermediate French. He has experience providing care in multicultural environments with many language barriers.

David graduated from Cambrian College from the Physical Fitness and Leisure Management program (2007 to 2010). He joined the Summit Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation team in 2009 as a Personal Training Intern. Upon graduating in 2010 he became CSEP (Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology) certified. He has worked with a variety of different athletes over a wide variety of activities. In 2011, he studied Massage Therapy for a 2-year condensed program (2011 to 2013). David became certified as a Registered Massage Therapist in the fall of 2013. In addition, he has attained certifications in Therapeutic Ultrasound and Mobility Taping. David now focuses full time as a registered Massage Therapist. His extensive background and experience makes him a perfect fit as part of the team at Summit Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation.

David has a strong interest in the fitness industry and a strong passion for natural powerlifting/weightlifting. He has been involved in this field for over 20 years. He believes in always pushing the envelope and becoming the best version of yourself you can possibly become.

David fully believes in client centered care, preventive health and promoting a healthy lifestyle. He continually strives to improve an individual’s overall function and health. Every treatment plan will be tailored to each client to meet their personal goals, needs, and objectives.
